We&#8217;ll be landing at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam\u00a0 Sunday morning and with only one hour and 15 minutes to make our connection we&#8217;ll have no time to linger. Once off the plane, we&#8217;ll follow the signs to the gate that will take us to the capital of Sardinia, <strong>Cagliari\u00a0<\/strong>on the very southern tip of the island.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.pinimg.com\/564x\/cd\/c1\/7f\/cdc17f9d90ce2bd262a4a9bc6bb166a4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 4 nights in <strong>Cagliari, <\/strong>we&#8217;ll pick up a rental car and drive around the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to spend time in the cities of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oristano<\/li>\n<li>Alghero<\/li>\n<li>Santa Teresa Gallura<\/li>\n<li>Orosei and<\/li>\n<li>Olbia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we&#8217;ve learned about Sardinia:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It&#8217;s Italy!<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s a large island in the Mediterranean Sea.<\/li>\n<li>The official language is Italian but some people speak the local dialect, Sardo.<\/li>\n<li>And, some people speak Catalan.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s sparsely populated with more sheep than people.<\/li>\n<li>The food is delicious made with local, seasonal ingredients.<\/li>\n<li>Local red and white wine are produced here as well as craft beer.<\/li>\n<li>The landscapes are varied with beaches, rocky terrain, and forests.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s a Blue Zone with the highest percent of people who live to be at least 100 years old.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Below is a stock photo of Cagliari.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.istockphoto.com\/id\/926979762\/photo\/morning-view-of-amalfi.jpg?s=612x612&amp;w=0&amp;k=20&amp;c=--QP-WLfMseJawWDP_U73Xklo3oKdwrqbDilsArjOOU=\" alt=\"91,400+ Sardinia Stock Photos, Pictures &amp; Royalty-Free ...\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll leave Sardinia after about 3 weeks to travel to <strong>Trieste, Italy<\/strong> and <strong>Ljubljana, Slovenia<\/strong> for a few days.<\/p>\n<p>Our plan is to spend about 3-4 nights in each place.
