Locals say that it\u2019s busier than usual for this time of year. \u00a0We\u2019re doing our best to skirt around the crowds to see the sights we want to visit.<\/p>\n

A worker was pressure washing the figures in the fountain today so the water is turned off. \u00a0It looks like a major task to clean all of the statues! \u00a0Note the the red dot in the photo below\u2026he\u2019s the guy with the red hard hat and the pressure hose. \u00a0You can see the difference in the clean vs. not yet cleaned part.<\/p>\n

The Pantheon was jam-packed as well so we made our way through the crowd and moved on.<\/p>\n

We feel fortunate that we\u2019ve visited these sites in the past so we\u2019re not disappointed that it\u2019s difficult to get inside. \u00a0The Vatican was also busy and that\u2019s probably not unusual any time of year.<\/p>\n

Not so crowded on a Monday morning was the La Rinascente Department Store. \u00a0They are ready for the holidays!<\/p>\n

We explore in the morning, rest a bit in the afternoon (it\u2019s been hot) and then head out again in the late afternoon when it\u2019s cooler. Today we walked to the Monti neighborhood behind the Imperial Forums. \u00a0It\u2019s become a fun place for restaurants and some of the bars host the aperitivo \u201cHappy Hour\u201d and serve some simple snacks with a drink. \u00a0It is a nice way to have a light meal after too many nights of heavy pasta dishes.<\/p>\n

There are some fun shops in the neighborhood as well.<\/p>\n

By the time we walked back to our hotel near Campo de\u2019 Fiori it was dark. \u00a0On the way, we stopped by the Colosseum to see it and parts of the Forum lighted. \u00a0There is construction work there too so it\u2019s cluttered now with equipment. \u00a0Seeing it at night though, was just right!<\/p>\n
