and that may be why there aren\u2019t so many tourists here. \u00a0On Sunday we took a slick regional train from Bologna to Pesaro and then a one hour bus ride from Pesaro to Urbino &#8211; it took a majority of the day but once we arrived, it didn\u2019t take long to realize that it was worth the bit of inconvenience.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3670\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3670\" style=\"width: 4032px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3670\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/45D92569-0E5F-497E-85E8-2D2839EFB23B.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3670\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of the Ducal Palace<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">We arrived in Urbino in the late afternoon and found that \u00a0it\u2019s surprisingly elegant, the people are friendly, and the city is fun to explore. \u00a0We\u2019ve ignored the fact that the streets are very steep and trekked up and down hills to taste the best gelato, the most interesting crescia sfogliata (a flat bread sandwich which has been made here since the Renaissance), and wine with dinner at a great restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3665\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3665\" style=\"width: 4032px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3665\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1CF1D212-36CF-42EE-8D1E-A85DAB1E598C.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3665\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Km Zero Cafe &#8211; Urbino<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There is so much history in Urbino &#8211; this morning we visited the birthplace of the artist Raffaello,\u00a0the university botanical garden, and this afternoon the Oratorio of John the Baptist. \u00a0In between it all, we did our laundry!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3667\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1F7C0DF9-AB9F-4AC7-B212-5CD49E9087FF.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><br \/>\nTomorrow we\u2019ll visit the Ducal Palace and Wednesday we\u2019ll make our way via autobus to our next stop, Fano.<\/p>\n<p>The town is beautiful but so is the surrounding countryside!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3668\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/CE32F225-408D-4073-8341-CF8188D12A8E.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are surprised that we haven\u2019t heard much about the results of the Italian elections. \u00a0We can speak a little Italian but not enough to understand the pros and cons of the Giorgia Meloni win.<\/p>\n<p>We are very happy with our room at <b>Albergo Italia<\/b> but the Internet speed isn\u2019t fast enough to upload many photos.. \u00a0The hotel is perfectly located in the town center and a nice breakfast is included in the price. \u00a0We\u2019re content in Urbino and all is well!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Urbino is not easy to get to &#8211;
