\u00a0Our plan is to visit a few places that we know and appreciate (Bologna, Orvieto, and Rome) plus the\u00a0<strong style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Le Marche<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> region (also called &#8220;The Marches.&#8221;) which is new to us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3609\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/9AC70745-F6A0-400F-9F31-1D6DCF4997E1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Marches region which runs along the eastern Adriatic Coast is one that we&#8217;ve wanted to visit for quite some time &#8211; it\u2019s been called a less-traveled Tuscany.<\/p>\n<p>For transport, we\u2019ll use a combination of trains, buses, and a rental car which we\u2019ll pick up at the Ancona Airport in a few days. \u00a0We&#8217;ve had to reorganize a part of our original \u00a0itinerary due to devastating heavy rainfall and flooding in <strong>Senigallia<\/strong> last week. \u00a0With no further hiccups, this trip will take us to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Urbino,<\/li>\n<li>Fano,<\/li>\n<li>Ascoli, and<\/li>\n<li>Fermo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">We\u2019ve left a few days unplanned to spend time in places that we discover along \u00a0the way. \u00a0Our itinerary includes a combination of seaside villages, hill towns and cities.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">The maps below shows the Le Marche region:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italymagazine.com\/sites\/default\/files\/locations-maps\/8497\/location-map.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our first stop before we travel to Le Marche is Bologna. \u00a0It\u2019s \u00a0our first full day here and we\u2019re enjoying a chance to practice the Italian that we\u2019ve been learning, \u00a0tastes of gelato, and exploring the porticos of this city. \u00a0The university here was founded in 1088!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3619\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3619\" style=\"width: 4032px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3619\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/02953A09-C74D-4598-880D-DD06686BB609.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3619\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evening in Bologna<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Our room at <strong>Albergo delle Drapperie<\/strong> is small, but the location on a pedestrian street with a pastry shop and a fruit market make up for piccolo space.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3620\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.woodring.us\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/DA1CEC96-4108-49E8-9C64-40F49BDC8623.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">We\u2019re having a great time so far\u2026if you&#8217;d like to follow along, just come back to this link every day or two\u2026.we hope to post some more photos along the way!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ciao!<br \/>\nSharon and Larry<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We landed in Paris yesterday afternoon and after a short layover, we took a two hour flight to Bologna, Italy to begin a new adventure!
