Gythio is a fishing port town with a population of about 4000. \u00a0Larry says that the best thing about Gythio is that there is nothing to do here! \u00a0We\u2019re enjoying a relaxed visit and have walked many steps to explore the town!<\/p>\n

The restaurants have been very good and we\u2019re eating lots of delicious, traditional Greek dishes. \u00a0It\u2019s a plus that almost all of our meals have been outdoors. \u00a0It\u2019s always nice to begin a meal with a plate of olives from groves nearby.<\/p>\n

When there is seafood, cats aren\u2019t far away. We found this one perched on a window sill.<\/p>\n

Restaurants in town are clustered along the waterfront but homes are built on the steep hillside. \u00a0We are happy to be staying on the flat part of town!<\/p>\n

We discovered the mermaid guarding the boats along the harbor.<\/p>\n

May 1 is a holiday in Europe for the celebration of the return of spring! \u00a0Since it falls on a Sunday this year, tomorrow is the official day. \u00a0Shops will be closed both days.<\/p>\n

Today is extra-special because it\u2019s Larry\u2019s birthday! \u00a0This evening we have reservations for dinner and we\u2019ll have a fun celebration!<\/p>\n
