We made a dinner reservation for Larry\u2019s birthday at O!live Restaurant in Gythio! \u00a0It\u2019s along the waterfront and owned by a husband and wife team. \u00a0It was a fun dining experience and a place we\u2019d recommend to anyone visiting in Gythio.<\/p>\n

The appetizer was local smoked pork, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and olives. \u00a0Simple and delicious\u2026olive oil and oregano are an important part of a dish like this!<\/p>\n

The fish dishes were perfectly prepared; the pink wine lovely;<\/p>\n

And the chocolate brownie dessert a nice way to end a delicious meal. \u00a0The staff went out of there way to make it a special evening!<\/p>\n

This morning there was a huge thunderstorm! \u00a0Heavy rain, lightning and big thunder. \u00a0It was a good morning to read and relax. \u00a0It\u2019s still the May holiday so shops are closed again today.<\/p>\n

Once the rain stopped, we drove 30 minutes to the town of Aeropolis\u2026\u2019the city of Ares\u2019. \u00a0There is a nice town square with bronze statue of Petrobey, \u00a0a Greek general and politician.<\/p>\n

Many of the buildings in Aeropolis are constructed of stone. \u00a0Here\u2019s the church;<\/span><\/p>\n

and a tower building, common in this region.<\/p>\n

We are staying in Las Hotel in Gythio. \u00a0It\u2019s one of the more modern buildings in town and the breakfast area (shown below) is nice.<\/p>\n

Wild nasturtiums are everywhere! \u00a0It looks like they thrive in this sunny climate!<\/p>\n
