On our last full day in Cadiz and we had a few things left to see. \u00a0We headed out to search for the Torre Tavira <\/b>– it shouldn\u2019t be hard to find as it\u2019s one of the many (133 now) watchtowers in the city. \u00a0This one is at the highest lookout point in the old town. \u00a0The highlight of this tower is that it has a Camera Obscura which projects moving images of the city at the precise moment that they are \u201cseen.\u201d \u00a0This gave us a wonderful view of various points of interest around the town. \u00a0We couldn\u2019t take photos of images from the Camera Obscura but recommend that it you have a chance to see images from one – do so!<\/p>\n

Nearby, we bought stamps to mail some postcards at the Correos <\/b>(Post Office) and Larry bravely dropped them into the mouth of the lion.<\/p>\n

We are never seem to be far from the Mercado Central de Abastos<\/b>\u00a0so we stopped in for quick snack before our visit to the tower. \u00a0We are fascinated with its history – built in 1838 it\u2019s Spain\u2019s oldest covered market. \u00a0On this Wednesday, the seafood market was fully stocked!<\/p>\n

We really didn\u2019t know much about this city before we arrived, but we\u2019ve concluded that Cadiz a gem. \u00a0We think that it deserves a few days visit to really get to know it. \u00a0There are many outdoor spaces to enjoy a coffee, glass of wine or a light meal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday we packed up and took the train to Seville. \u00a0It was super breezy in Cadiz – so much so that there was a warning for boats on the sea. \u00a0The steel workers are striking so police in riot gear were out en masse. \u00a0Just a little excitement as we walked to the rail station.<\/p>\n

We miss cozy Cordoba and compact Cadiz but we have a nice place to stay near the Cathedral in Seville. \u00a0The city is larger and busier than we\u2019ve become accustomed to. \u00a0We shopped for groceries and are waiting for the tour groups to depart so we can explore the city. \u00a0It\u2019s not our first time here, but it\u2019s been awhile.<\/p>\n

Murillo Suites near the Alcazar is our home base for the next five days.<\/p>\n

There is a nice view of the Cathedral from our room near Plaza Santa Cruz.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re watching the weather as the forecast for Vitoria-Gasteiz is rainy and chilly for the time we\u2019re scheduled to be there. \u00a0If that continues, we might make an alternate plan but for now, we\u2019ll enjoy Seville!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
