We spent much of the day at this fantastic museum near the La Mariscal district of Quito – taking a break for lunch and then returning to see more in the afternoon!<\/p>\n

This impressive ceramic sculpture by Sheila Janeth Espinosa Santacruz is lifelike – and there are many of these around the museum. Her works are based on real women.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

One area of the museum is set up for artists to work.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This large statue of a woman is dated 400 B.C. – 600 A.D.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There is an impressive collection of gold pieces. This one has human and animal characteristics with spondylus shell (spiny oyster) inlay!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This museum was free!<\/p>\n

While today is our last full day\/night in Quito, we still have a full day here tomorrow as our flight doesn’t leave until 11:30 p.m. – an awkward time! We’ve reserved a room in a hotel around the corner for 7 hours so we’ll have a place to store our luggage and relax a bit. We negotiated a deal for this short stay.<\/p>\n

Our Cabify driver today said that our stay in Ecuador was too short! There is so much to see here, he said! So, we may be back to explore more one day. Until then!<\/p>\n
